The Ripken Experience
More family style fun is on its way to Myrtle Beach! Cal Ripken, along with his brother Bill, will soon be opening The Ripken Experience, their baseball tournament facilities and state-of-the-art training island. With week-long tournaments scheduled to run from the beginning of July through mid August, and weekend tournaments in the fall, Myrtle Beach's popularity as a travel destination is about to experience a noticeable growth.
After enjoying success with their Ripken Baseball Academy in Aberdeen MD, the Ripken Baseball company wisely teamed up with the Myrtle Beach area's largest development company, Burroughs and Chapin, and quickly began work on bringing The Ripken Experience to Myrtle Beach.
The Facilities will have six youth baseball fields and three regulation fields. The training island, designed by Cal and Bill Ripken, include batting cages, adaptable pitching mounds, and bunting fields among other things. There will also be a café and retail store located on the grounds. Plans for phase II consist of more fields and onsite lodging. Until then teams are given accommodations at the Myrtlewood Villas.
Baseball isn't the only thing to expect when attending The Ripken Experience. Players will receive passes to several local area attractions like Myrtle Waves Water Park, the NASCAR SpeedPark, the Pavilion Amusement Park, and multiple miniature golf and par three courses.
There will also be plenty for the rest of the family to do as Myrtle Beach is one of America's top family vacations spots. With beautiful beaches, hundreds of specialty shops, attractions, rides, and approximately 115 golf courses there is literally something for everyone to enjoy.
