Myrtle Beach Golf Overview When traveling to Myrtle Beach, be sure to bring your golf clubs! Home to over 100 golf courses, Myrtle Beach is known as the Seaside Golf Capital of the World. With so much competition and great golf weather all year long, the greens keepers have their work cut out for them. Courses are consistently maintained in top condition. The biggest problem the Myrtle Beach golfer faces is deciding which courses to play.
The best of the best in golf course design have come here to show off their skills. Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, Arnold Palmer, and Greg Norman are just a few of the extremely talented architects to have designed public courses in Myrtle Beach.
Another great thing about golfing in Myrtle Beach is the variety of courses. One can play 18, or even 36 holes while enjoying sea breezes and views of the Atlantic, or go inland a bit and play a course built on an old plantation surrounded by Live Oak trees. Perhaps a course with a Scottish-style flair is more your style. Not to worry, Myrtle Beach has several top-notch, award-winning courses, just for you. After architect Dan Maples moved 1,000,000 cubic yards of earth, there is even a mountain course available for play.
For those who have just entered the world of golf, or at least play like they have, there are plenty of golf instructors, golf lessons, and courses designed with you in mind. If you need help with course management, greenside bunker shots, or your weight distribution, just sign up with one of Myrtle Beach's many golf schools, and come out swinging like a pro.
If watching some intense golfing competition is what you're after, Myrtle Beach offers plenty of tournaments for your enjoyment. Events range from junior-league tournaments to the Hootie and the Blowfish Pro-Am. Golfapalooza, hosted by leading golf equipment companies, welcomes the start of the spring season, while the PGA TOUR Superstore World Amateur Handicap Championship offers the opportunity to compete with over 4,000 golfers for prizes. The National Father & Son Team Classic is a weeklong event that has quickly become the largest father and son competition in the world.
Golf packages abound in Myrtle Beach. With so many different options, it truly pays to shop around and find one that is perfectly suited for your needs. Hotel & golf combination packages are popular but certainly not required for a great game of golf as most courses are independent of lodging facilities.
Affordable golf vacations are what Myrtle Beach is all about. Reasonably priced courses, accommodations, dining and nightlife make it possible for a golf vacation to turn into a family vacation. With so many attractions, and the beautiful beaches, no one in the family will be bored, plus the over 50 miniature golf courses ensure that even the smallest golfer can get in on the action.
